In the Netherlands, both the Oosterschelde sea barrier and Grevelingendam are very promising locations. Recently, a study was prepared for the Dutch Government, investigating the exploitation of the Grevelingenhevel as a tidal energy plant.
NL - Oosterschelde - The famous Dutch sea defence in the south of the Netherlands offers excellent tidal energy generating options. Tocardo is developing a site to generate almost 1 MW commercial tidal power. To be commissioned autumn 2010.
NL - Marsdiep - In the Waddenzee, between the Island of Texel and the seaport of Den Helder, the first offshore tidal farm in Holland is being prepared.
UK - Pentland Firth - In Scotland, developments are under way for a 10 Megawatt offshore commercial demonstration tidal farm, to demonstrate the economic viability of tidal energy generation.
