T50 - the small power range

The T50 power class corresponds to the small power range (35-50 kW nominal output)*. This series is ideal for small water depth applications in relatively fast currents, for example rivers, post-hydro applications and sea defense structures. Depending on the flow velocity profile and water depth, the T50 can be equipped with blades ranging from 2.5 to 4.5 m in diameter.

* Nominal power corresponds to the maximum power that a machine is able to deliver continuously. It may however deliver for short periods of time higher levels of power.

Currently a 45 kW T50 turbine is installed

at out demo site in Den Oever, the Netherlands.

Blade diameter 2.8 meter
Maximum flow velocity 4 m/s (unidirectional)
Blades optimized for unidirectional flow
Nominal output 45 kW @3.5 m/s water speed
Permanent Magnet Direct Drive variable speed generator with AC-AC converter
Fixed pitch blades
No yawing mechanism

Currently several inshore and river sites are under investigation for potential installation of T50.
