The Oosterschelde project is Tocardo’s first commercial demo project.
The turbines will be installed in de Oosterschelde storm barrage which was built for the protection against storm surges after the big disaster in 1953. The Oosterschelde storm barrage connects the North Sea and the Oosterschelde bay and has a bi directional tidal flow, twice a day.
5 Tocardo T-200 turbines will be installed in one of the barrage openings and has a capacity of 1 MW. The turbines are connected to the local grid and will produce electricity for about 350 households.
