Turbine T150

The T150 power class corresponds to the medium power range (80-150 kW nominal output). This series is currently being engineered for deployment in summer 2010. It is suitable for sites with high water velocities and larger available water depth, in which the T50 would be less economically viable. Depending on the flow velocity profile and available water depth the T150 can be equiped with blades ranging from 4 to 10 m.

Currently a 150 kW T150 turbine is being prepared for application in the Oosterschelde sea defence, one of the sea defence structures in The Netherlands. 6 turbines of 150 kW are planned to be mounted to the barrage in one sluice, producing 900 kW in total.

In order to gain experience with large blade diameter for offshore conditions the T150 will alse be deployed in a demo site at Texel, Marsdiep in the Netherlands, equipped with a 10 m diameter blade. A floating array of 6 turbines producing 80 kW each at 2 m/s water speed (4 knots) is currently being engineered. In this offshore project, Tocardo is teaming up with Bluewater Energy Services, which will engineer and provide the floating construction and offshore maintenance solution.
