Tocardo T200 Turbine

The Tocardo T200 Turbine corresponds to the medium power range (87-174 kW nominal output). This series is currently being engineered for deployment in spring 2011. It is suitable for sites with high water velocities and larger available water depth, in which the T100 would be less economically viable. Depending on the flow velocity profile and available water depth the T200 can be equiped with blades ranging from 4.6 to 9.2 meters.

Currently the T200 Turbine is being prepared for application in the Oosterschelde sea defence, one of the sea defence structures in The Netherlands. 6 turbines are planned to be mounted to the barrage inone sluice, producing 900 kW in total.

                                                                                                         


In order to gain experience with large blade diameter for offshore conditions the T200 will alse be deployed in a demo site at Texel, Marsdiep in the Netherlands, equipped with a 9.2 m diameter blade. A floating array of 6 turbines producing 80 kW each at 2 m/s water speed (4 knots) is currently being engineered. In this offshore project, Tocardo is teaming up with Bluewater Energy Services, which will engineer and provide the floating construction and offshore maintenance solution.
